Prof. Amir Tirosh

Dr. Tirosh received his MD (Summa Cum Laude) and PhD in Biochemistry from Ben-Gurion University. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Sheba Medical Center and fellowship in Endocrinology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He completed a post-doctoral training at the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases at Harvard School of Public Health.

 

In 2018, Dr. Tirosh was appointed as the Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Sheba Medical Center. His main research activities include the pathophysiology of obesity and type 2 diabetes, and he is also involved in clinical and translational projects in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. 

 

Dr. Tirosh is an associate professor of medicine at the School of medicine at Tel-Aviv University, a member of the Israeli National Council for Diabetes and chairs the sub-committee for type 1 diabetes. He received competitive grants from the NIH, ISF, ADA. And EFSD.

 

Dr. Tirosh has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including papers in the New England Journal of Medicine, Cell Metabolism, and many other top ranked journals. His H index as of January 2023 is 35.
